SAP ECC6 to ECC7 Braga, Portugal

This trip marked the first in a series of business travels to the old continent of Europe, this was also the first time I would cross the Atlantic, Braga is a small city located at the northwestern part of Portugal, with a population of 201,583 inhabitants (in 2021), representing the seventh largest municipality in Portugal by population.

The official and most commonly used language is portuguese, which bears many similarities with Spanish (my mother language), so reading and finding my way around was fairly easy, even spoken portuguese I could easily understand when spoken slowly.

We were supporting an update on the ERP used in the company (SAP) from a very old version to a newer one, normally updates or changes of this nature would not need a big group of people supporting on site, but the old version was so deprecated that many of the data structure, procedures & processes were so different that we had to re-build many of the processes to fit the new system, me particularly was in charge of finding the gap in Material Masters & as well as supporting a clean transition on to the newly added shipping process in the docks, had also to make sure hardware such as Scanners & Label printers were ready to support the new system, also helped providing insights on legacy systems connecting to SAP for Finish Goods serial creation, designed and developed a dashboard to extract 'idocs' with error state, so the people could debbug and fix transactional issues from Go-Live, this process yet exist as of 2025.

Used one of the weekends to visit Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, had a friend there from Mexico, so made our trip there from Porto, visited many places, and drinked a lot of beer for sure.

Met many of my colleagues for the first time on this trip, so this particular trip to Portugal has a special place in my heart.
